Stefan Kaiser is a Professor at the Institute of Solid State and Materials Physics within the Faculty of Physics at the Technical University of Dresden (TU Dresden). He leads the Chair of Ultrafast Solid State Physics and Photonics, focusing on experimental investigations of quantum materials, light-driven superconductivity, and Higgs spectroscopy. His career spans roles as a Juniorprofessor at the University of Stuttgart, group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, and pioneering work at facilities like the LCLS Free Electron Laser and Diamond Synchrotron.
- Education: Diploma in Physics from RWTH Aachen (2005), PhD from the University of Stuttgart (2010).
His research bridges ultrafast spectroscopy with quantum materials, including coherent phonon dynamics, correlated magnetism, and topological systems. He developed the concept of Higgs spectroscopy to probe superconductors at extreme time-scales and leads projects within the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) on correlated magnetism at TU Dresden.
Scientific Awards:
- ERC Consolidator Grant "T-Higgs" (2023)
Kaiser’s group employs advanced optical and THz techniques, collaborates internationally, and operates at the intersection of fundamental quantum physics and applied photonics. His work includes commissioning the ARTEMIS beamline and designing high-resolution XUV sources for time-resolved photo-emission studies.
