Stefan Hussong

Professor Stefan Hussong serves as Professor of Accordion and Chamber Music at the University of Music Würzburg, where he is also the Specialist Group Spokesperson for Accordion. Born in Köllerbach an der Saar, he has established himself as a leading interpreter of contemporary music.

Hussong's research and performance interests focus on contemporary music performance, specialized accordion techniques, and chamber music collaboration. His career bridges classical training with avant-garde musical exploration, particularly in new music interpretation.

Hussong has received significant recognition including the Echo Klassik Prize in 1999 as Best Instrumentalist of the Year. His solo CD featuring John Cage's works was named 'Best Record of the Year' the same year. He has also been honored with multiple prestigious scholarships throughout his career.

As an active performer, Hussong has collaborated with major ensembles including Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Ensemble Intercontemporain, and Ensemble Modern. His performance career demonstrates exceptional versatility across contemporary music repertoire.
