Dr. Stefan Hochguertel is an Associate Professor of Economics at VU Amsterdam's Department of Economics and a research fellow at Tinbergen Institute, Netspar, and Uppsala Center for Fiscal Studies. He holds a PhD from Tilburg University and previously held positions at Uppsala University and the European University Institute.
His research focuses on household financial behavior, labor markets, consumer credit, wealth inequality, retirement policies, and self-employment. He teaches courses in labor economics, public economics, and advanced microeconomics. Recent work includes analyzing macroprudential policies' impact on retirement preparation (2020-2023).
