Dr. Stefan Heuberger is a Lecturer at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at ETH Zurich. He specializes in tectonics, stratigraphy, and geological mapping, with a focus on Alpine geology and georesources. His research integrates seismic interpretation, thermochronometry, and remote sensing to study structural evolution and resource characterization.
He is affiliated with the Swiss Georessources Group (Fachgruppe Georessourcen Schweiz) and holds memberships in key organizations like the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), and the Swiss Geological Society (SGS). His work spans from active faulting in Lake Constance to the tectonic history of the Karakoram-Kohistan Suture Zone.
Dr. Heuberger has contributed to projects like the St. Gallen Fault Zone study and the PEGASOS Refinement Project, advancing understanding of geothermal systems and seismic hazard assessments. He emphasizes innovative applications of geospatial technologies and machine learning in geological data analysis.
- Key Research Areas: Alpine tectonics, seismic interpretation, thermochronometry, georesources exploration
- Technical Expertise: 3D seismic analysis, Raman thermometry, GIS automation
- Notable Projects: Swiss Geotechnical Commission history, Rhine River incision dynamics, Karakoram suture zone kinematics
His publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to resolving complex geological questions in both regional and international contexts.
