Stefan Bechtold

Stefan Bechtold is a Professor of Intellectual Property and Head of the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. He holds a law degree from the University of Tübingen and a JSM from Stanford Law School (2002). His research focuses on intellectual property law, law & technology, telecommunications law, antitrust law, and law & economics.
He has held visiting professorships at New York University School of Law and the University of Haifa, and was a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods. His professional affiliations include membership in the Foundation Board of the Study Center Gerzensee (organizing law & economics courses for doctoral students) and the Academic Advisory Board of Germany's Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
Bechtold’s publications appear in journals such as the American Journal of Comparative Law, Communications of the ACM, and Journal of Empirical Legal Studies. Outside academia, his orchestral compositions have received awards and broadcasts.
