Stavros Nikou

Dr. Stavros Nikou is a Physics and Informatics teacher in secondary education and a junior researcher at the SMILE (Smart and Mobile Interactive Learning Environments) Lab affiliated with the University of Macedonia. He holds a B.Sc. in Physics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Houston (USA), and a Ph.D. from the University of Macedonia’s Interdepartmental Programme of Postgraduate Studies in Information Systems.

His research focuses on technology-enhanced learning, particularly mobile learning and assessment methodologies. He investigates how mobile technologies can enhance student motivation and learning outcomes, as well as the barriers and facilitators influencing the adoption of mobile learning tools in educational settings.

With extensive experience in educational resource design, K-12 STEM/ICT curricula, vocational training, and teacher mentoring, Dr. Nikou also serves as a Scientix Ambassador for European Schoolnet, promoting science education across Europe. His work bridges academic research with practical applications in pre-service and in-service teacher training programs.
