Stanley H. Brandes is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley. His office is located in the Anthropology and Art Practice Building (formerly Kroeber Hall). With over thirty years of research in Spain, Mexico, and the United States, his ethnographic work emphasizes ritual, religion, food/drink, and visual anthropology, with particular attention to regional, ethnic, class, and gender diversity.
Brandes' research interests center on:

- Cultural anthropology of food and alcohol consumption
- Visual documentation and representation in ethnography
