Stanley D. Longhofer is the Stephen L. Clark Chair of Real Estate and Finance at Wichita State University's Barton School of Business and founding director of the WSU Center for Real Estate. He specializes in real estate economics, mortgage markets, and financial policy, with a focus on regional housing markets. Dr. Longhofer holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Economics from the University of Illinois and a B.B.A. from Wichita State University. Prior to his current role, he worked as a financial economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, researching mortgage discrimination and bankruptcy law.
His research spans real estate valuation, foreclosure dynamics, and fair lending practices, published in journals like Regulation and Commercial Investment Real Estate. He annually produces the Kansas Housing Markets Forecast and frequently contributes to national media including Forbes and USA Today. Awards include the 2019 Citizen of the Year and 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to real estate education and policy.
Dr. Longhofer advises on fair lending practices and statistical methodologies to address mortgage discrimination, drawing on his experience with the Federal Reserve System’s Fair Lending Advisory Group. His work bridges academic research with practical applications in real estate education and professional development through the Center for Real Estate.
