Professor Stan Taylor is an Honorary Professor in the School of Education at Durham University. He holds a prestigious career in academic staff development, quality enhancement, and doctoral education. Trained at the Universities of Oxford and Warwick, Taylor transitioned from social sciences to focus on academic development, serving as Director of Quality Enhancement at Newcastle University and Director of Durham's Centre for Academic and Researcher Development before his 2013 retirement. His work continues through international collaborations, including co-founding the International Centre for the Comparative Study of Doctoral Education (ICCSDE).
Education: Began at Oxford, completed studies at Warwick University. His career spans decades in higher education policy, supervision frameworks, and global doctoral education trends.
Research interests center on doctoral education systems, supervisory practices, and professional recognition.
