Stan Galicki serves as Interim Associate Provost and Professor of Geology at Millsaps College, where he directs the Millsaps College Sorbent and Environmental Laboratory focused on oil spill sorbent development and stormwater remediation filter research.
His educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Mississippi (2002), an M.S. in Geology from the University of Memphis (1982), and a B.A. in Geology from Wittenberg University (1980).
Galicki's research centers on wetland biogeochemistry and paleoenvironmental interpretation, with expertise in sedimentary depositional environments and ecological design. His teaching portfolio spans natural disasters, environmental science, hydrology, mineralogy, petrology, sedimentary geology, geographical information systems, and sustainable design applications.
His publication "Roadside Geology of Mississippi" (2016) demonstrates his field-based geological expertise, covering Mississippi's stratigraphy, structural features, and geomorphological evolution through accessible roadside observations.
No scientific awards were documented in the source material.
As laboratory director, he leads applied research in environmental remediation technologies and has implemented sustainable design projects including wastewater treatment wetlands for the Kaxil Kiuic Center in Yucatán, Mexico.
The Millsaps College Sorbent and Environmental Laboratory under his leadership develops innovative materials for oil spill containment and stormwater filtration systems, bridging academic research with practical environmental solutions.
