Stacy DeZutter is a Professor of Education and Psychology at Millsaps College, where she has taught since 2008. She also serves as Director of Programs in Education and Director of Community Engaged Learning. Her expertise spans sociocultural psychology, human creativity, early childhood education, and democratic citizenship education. DeZutter holds a Ph.D. in Education (Learning Sciences) from Washington University in St. Louis, an M.A. in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.A. in Theatre and Media Arts from Rhodes College.
Her research focuses on creativity in groups, improvisation in education, and the intersection of learning with democratic participation. Recent work emphasizes how educational practices can foster citizenship in young children. She has been recognized with the Millsaps College Distinguished Professor Award (2023) and Excellence in Teaching Award (2020-2021).
