Stacy Blackburn

Stacy Blackburn is the Theatre Production Manager and Lecturer of Stage Management at the School of Performing Arts, Virginia Tech. She holds an MFA in Stage Management from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Professional Theatre Training Program and has over 24 years of professional experience in theatre. Her expertise spans stage and production management, with a focus on education and career development in theatre. She has worked with notable theatres such as STAGES St. Louis, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Florida Studio Theatre, and others.

Blackburn is an active member of professional organizations, including the Stage Managers’ Association (SMA) and the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC), where she currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Stage Management Committee. Previously, she chaired the SETC Stage Management Committee (2017–2020) and participated in leadership initiatives. She also mentors emerging professionals in theatre leadership roles.

Before joining Virginia Tech, she led the BFA Stage Management program at Lindenwood University and held roles such as Academic Production Manager. Her teaching and research emphasize practical skills in stage management, production logistics, and career portfolio development.
