Stacie Wing-Gaia is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Utah's Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology and an Assistant Professor at Weber State University's Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. She holds a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Utah, a Master’s in Nutrition Science, and a BSc in Dietetics from UC Davis. Her research focuses on sports nutrition, high-altitude physiology, and protein metabolism, with fieldwork in Nepal and Tibet studying muscle wasting at altitude. She previously directed sports nutrition at the University of Utah for a decade and served as a bionutritionist at the Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
Dr. Wing-Gaia has held editorial roles with Wilderness and Environmental Medicine and co-edits Expeditions. She teaches exercise science and nutrition, chairs graduate projects, and advises on nutrition protocols. Awards include the 2015 Outstanding Alumnus from the University of Utah and the Mead Johnson Award. Her community work includes developing school gardens and nutrition programs for athletes and youth sports.
