Stacey Sinwald is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Oberlin College. She holds a BA in psychology (2017) and an MEd in clinical mental health counseling (2020) from Cleveland State University, and is currently a PhD ABD candidate in education. Her teaching focuses on lifespan development, abnormal psychology, clinical psychology, and seminars on human-canine bonding. She also serves as a teaching assistant and supervisor for advanced research and honors projects.
Her research explores the integration of therapy dogs in healthcare employee wellness, leveraging her background as a dog trainer and therapy dog handler. She emphasizes the human-animal connection in both academic and applied settings, including workplace wellness consulting and customized programming for organizations. Recent courses include PSYC 215 (Clinical/Counseling Psychology), PSYC 223 (Lifespan Development), and advanced seminars on human-canine bonding.
Stacey's clinical practice specializes in trauma, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders, with a focus on young adults. Her work bridges psychological theory, animal-assisted interventions, and real-world wellness applications.
