Stacey L. Hail

Stacey L. Hail is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW). She serves as an attending physician at Parkland Hospital Emergency Department and the North Texas Poison Center. Dr. Hail holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Southern Methodist University (1995) and a Medical Degree from Medical College of Georgia (1999). She completed her emergency medicine residency and medical toxicology fellowship at Parkland Hospital, Dallas.

Her research focuses on forensic toxicology, including methodologies for cause-of-death analyses, sudden death in custody cases, and the opioid epidemic. She frequently acts as an expert witness for federal drug crime cases and has provided commentary for National Geographic, BBC, and Oxygen Channel documentaries. Professional affiliations include leadership roles in UTSW's Emergency Medicine department and contributions to medical toxicology fellowships.
