Nancy Onisko

Nancy Onisko, D.O., FACEP is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) and co-director of the Perinatal Intervention Program at Parkland Hospital and Health System in Dallas, TX. Her academic and clinical work focuses on addiction medicine, toxicology, and global health initiatives.

  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University
  • D.O. from Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Internship at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center
  • Residency in Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University and Detroit Receiving Hospital

Dr. Onisko's research interests span addiction medicine, general toxicology, toxinology (studying venomous animals and poisonous plants), emerging drugs of abuse, and international toxicology. She is dedicated to advancing addiction medicine and medical toxicology as specialties.

Additionally, Dr. Onisko completed fellowships in toxicology and global health/disaster medicine, returning to academia after five years of community-based emergency medicine practice. Outside of her medical career, she enjoys international travel, tennis, music, photography, social justice advocacy, and animal rescue work.
