معرفی
Dr. Stacey Ellery is an NHMRC Peter Doherty Early Career Research Fellow and Adjunct Research Fellow in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Monash Health, affiliated with Monash University’s Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. Her research program focuses on maternal and fetal energy homeostasis, particularly the role of creatine metabolism in pregnancy and its implications for fetal development and neonatal outcomes.
Education:
- PhD in Obstetrics, Monash University (The Ritchie Centre), awarded February 2015
- BBioMedSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science, Deakin University, awarded October 31, 2010
Her research interests center on improving outcomes in high-risk pregnancies, including those complicated by preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, preterm birth, and intrapartum asphyxia. She investigates how maternal nutrition and creatine availability influence fetal physiology and placental function. Her work integrates clinical studies with preclinical models such as the spiny mouse, sheep, and rhesus macaque to develop translational interventions. Key research themes include creatine metabolism, maternal diet quality, endometrial health, and lipidomic signatures for gestational diabetes prediction.
The recent trends in her publications highlight a strong focus on creatine metabolism in pregnancy, the composition and diagnostic potential of menstrual fluid, and maternal diet’s impact on cardiometabolic health. Her work spans clinical nutrition, reproductive physiology, and metabolic biochemistry, often employing advanced lipidomic and metabolomic profiling.
Scientific Awards:
- 1st Prize Basic Science (2015)
- 3MT (Three Minute Thesis) Winner (2014, 2013)
- Australian Postgraduate Award (2010)
- Best 3rd Year PhD Presentation (2013)
Dr. Ellery has been a Chief or Associate Investigator on multiple funded research projects, including studies on creatine supplementation, maternal diet, and endometrial predictors of pregnancy outcomes. She supervises honours students and is accepting PhD students, demonstrating her commitment to academic mentorship. Her research is supported by grants from the GS & YJ Wilson Andrea Joy Logan Trust Fund and internal Monash University funding.
She leads an international collaborative research program involving clinicians and scientists from Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, focusing on neonatology, developmental therapy, biomedical science, and analytical chemistry. Her team aims to translate findings into improved clinical outcomes for mothers and babies.
