Stacey Scott is Associate Professor of Social and Health Psychology at Stony Brook University, investigating stress, emotions, and health across the lifespan. Her research examines stress through multiple dimensions: exposure, appraisal, and physiological/emotional outcomes.
Using diverse methodologies—from ecological momentary assessment to longitudinal surveys—her work analyzes stress responses to events ranging from national disasters to daily hassles. Current NIH-funded projects study cognitive function in breast cancer survivors' daily lives and stress reactivity as a mechanism for health disparities.
Before joining SBU, Dr. Scott held positions at University of South Florida, Penn State, and Georgia Tech. She earned her PhD from Notre Dame and collaborates on multi-site grants like the ESCAPE Project examining stress-cognition relationships.
