Stéphanie Bernard

Stéphanie Bernard is a Lecturer at the University of Rouen Normandy's UFR Letters and Human Sciences. Her research focuses on 19th and 20th century English literature, particularly exploring themes of modernity, femininity, tragedy, and religious elements in texts by Thomas Hardy, Joseph Conrad, and others. She holds an English Aggregation (1995) and a Doctorate in English Studies (2005).

Her editorial contributions include co-directing the online journal Fathom and organizing international conferences like 'Objects in Hardy and Conrad' (2017). She is a founding member of the FATHOM association for Thomas Hardy studies and serves on the SAES Training Commission.

Teaching responsibilities include CAPES and Aggregation preparation courses, focusing on English literature and didactics. Her work combines close textual analysis with interdisciplinary approaches, emphasizing intertextuality and cultural context.
