Stéphane Descombes is a Professor in Applied Mathematics at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis. He is affiliated with the J.A. Dieudonné Mathematics Laboratory and the Nachos project-team (a joint initiative between Inria, CNRS, and the university). From 2012 to 2016, he served as Director of the Mathematical Department and oversaw the Master Mathématiques et Interactions program.
- Research Focus: Numerical analysis, scientific computing, high-performance computing, and analysis of partial differential equations (PDEs). His work emphasizes high-order numerical methods for wave propagation problems in elastic and electromagnetic domains.
- Teaching: Courses in Analysis, Numerical Analysis, and Scientific Computing.
- Leadership Roles: Head of the Center for Modeling, Simulation, and Interactions (MSI) at Université Côte d'Azur.
