Stéphane DERRUAU

Dr. Stéphane Derruau serves as a Clinical Associate Professor (Praticien Hospitalier) at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, teaching core dental disciplines including dental histology, embryology, dental anatomopathology, medical pathology, oral medicine and surgery, and periodontology. His research is anchored at the MEDyC laboratory (CNRS UMR 7369), focusing on interdisciplinary connections between oral and systemic health.

His primary research investigates the pathological links between periodontal diseases and hidradenitis suppurativa, emphasizing diagnostic and prognostic tool development. He explores peptide-mediated bone cell differentiation under inflammatory conditions and applies medical infrared thermography for surgical management of inflammatory skin conditions, bridging dentistry, dermatology, and biomedical engineering.

Publications from 2015-2017 reveal a consistent focus on inflammatory disease mechanisms, with particular emphasis on diagnostic innovation in periodontal-dermatological comorbidities and regenerative approaches for bone tissue under inflammation.

Dr. Derruau is an active member of the French Society of Oral Surgery (SFCO) and the National College of Teachers in Biological Sciences of Odontology. Within the MEDyC laboratory's Biospectroscopies - Imagerie du Vivant team, he advances his research project on hidradenitis suppurativa and periodontal diseases under the supervision of Professor Olivier Piot and co-supervision of Professor Sandrine Lorimier.
