Srinivas Veerla is an Associate Researcher at the Division of Translational Cancer Research within the Lund University Cancer Centre (LUCC) at Lund University. His work focuses on translational oncology through genomic and bioinformatic approaches, with over 50 research outputs including publications in Nature Communications and Clinical Cancer Research. He actively contributes to cancer genomics research targeting early detection and molecular characterization of malignancies.
Dr. Veerla's research spans Cancer Genomics, Bioinformatics, and Epigenetics with concentrated expertise in Breast Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, and Lung Cancer. His methodology integrates DNA methylation analysis, transcriptional profiling, and copy number variation studies to decode molecular mechanisms in tumor development. This work directly supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through biomarker discovery and diagnostic innovation.
He received the SCRM 2025 Best Poster Award for pioneering research on ovarian carcinoma detection using cervical sample genomics. This recognition highlights his impact in developing non-invasive diagnostic frameworks for high-grade serous ovarian cancer.
As an Assistant Supervisor, Veerla mentors researchers across multiple projects:
- Molecular analyses of breast cancer to target the genotype - phenotype link (2024-2028, active)
- Visualising isoform expression with DNA methylation in breast cancer (2024)
- Copy number signatures detection framework for ovarian carcinoma (2023-2024)
- Immune cell landscapes in endometriosis-associated ovarian cancer (2023)
- Gene expression classification of urothelial carcinoma (2022-2023)
