Srdjan Djurovic is a Researcher at the University of Oslo's Centre for Precision Psychiatry, affiliated with Oslo University Hospital. His work focuses on psychiatric genetics, with a particular emphasis on understanding the genetic basis of mental disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. He leads and collaborates on large-scale genomic studies, including multi-ancestry analyses and GWAS to identify risk variants and pleiotropy across psychiatric and neurological conditions.
His research integrates genetic, immunological, and neurodevelopmental perspectives, often exploring the interplay between genetic risk and immune system dysregulation. Key projects include the Psych-STRATA initiative, aiming to stratify treatments using pharmacogenomic data. Djurovic has contributed to over 200 peer-reviewed articles in journals like Nature, Cell, and Biological Psychiatry, addressing topics such as genetic overlaps between psychiatric disorders, immune biomarkers, and neurodevelopmental pathways.
His lab's work spans translational research, including studies using human cortical spheroids and post-mortem brain samples to model disease mechanisms. Djurovic collaborates internationally, contributing to the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC) and other consortia, and maintains ties to institutions like Oslo University Hospital and the University of Oslo's Faculty of Medicine.
