Spyridon Kakavas

Spyridon Kakavas is an Assistant Professor of Architectural Design at the School of Architecture, Technical University of Crete. He is also a co-founder of the architectural practice Kakavas-Klonizaki Architects, active since 1993 in Greece and internationally.

• Education: Architecture (NTUA, 1991), Sculpture (ASFA, 2000), MSc in Environmental Design of Cities and Buildings (Hellenic Open University, 2010)

His research explores:

• Enhancement and protection of archaeological sites
• Public space and environmental sustainability
• Interactive constructions and artistic installations
• Conceptualization of 'Place' through time and space

His architectural projects and visual art installations have been exhibited at:

• 11th Venice Biennale (2006)
• UIA World Congresses (Turin 2008, Seoul 2017)
• 6th Biennale of Young Greek Architects (2008)
• National and international competitions with distinctions

He has been involved in:

• Teaching Architectural Design at NTUA (2017-2021) and TUC (2017-2018)
• Designing award-winning public and private buildings
• Collaborating on large-scale projects including the Athens Olympics (1999-2004)
