Oungrinis Konstantinos

Oungrinis Konstantinos serves as Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture, Technical University of Crete (TUC) since 2012 and directs the Transformable and Intelligent Environments Laboratory (TIE Lab) since 2011. He holds a PhD in Architectural Studies and Building Technology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and maintains adjunct affiliations with Harvard GSD, MIT Media Lab, and MIT CSAIL.

He developed Spatial Economy and Sensponsive Architecture frameworks for IT-integrated design, with interdisciplinary reach spanning psychology, neuroscience, and computational engineering. His research examines transformable environments across extreme conditions, educational spaces, and time-space relationships.

Academic Contributions: Author of two seminal books including 'Transformable Architecture: Movement, Adaptation, Flexibility' (ION Publishers, 2011), he teaches advanced design studios and sustainable technology courses while supervising research in intelligent environments. Laboratory Leadership: The TIE Lab under his direction pioneers responsive spatial systems that actively adapt to human needs through integrated sensory and material technologies, bridging architectural theory with computational neuroscience and engineering applications.
