Spencer Behr, MD, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology and Director of the Abdominal Imaging and Nuclear Medicine Fellowship programs at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He obtained his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine (2005) and completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency at Lahey Clinic Medical Center (2010), followed by fellowships in Abdominal Imaging and Nuclear Medicine at UCSF. His research focuses on molecular and hybrid imaging translational research, particularly in prostate cancer and novel PET/CT/MR techniques. Key projects include FDG PET in breast cancer, CT findings in celiac disease, and PSMA PET imaging for prostate cancer management.
Education: Tufts University School of Medicine (MD, 2005), residencies at Lahey Clinic (Diagnostic Radiology, 2010), and fellowships at UCSF (Abdominal Imaging & Nuclear Medicine).
Research Interests: Molecular imaging, hybrid PET/MRI, translational oncology imaging, and clinical applications of novel radiotracers. Projects emphasize cross-disciplinary collaborations to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning.
Publications span over 150 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on imaging biomarkers, treatment response assessment, and clinical applications of advanced imaging modalities. His work on PSMA PET in prostate cancer has significantly impacted diagnostic protocols.
