Spencer Barnett is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at Bournemouth University Business School. He has been affiliated with Bournemouth University since 2000, after working as an equity analyst and arbitrageur at a major European investment bank. His research focuses on equity arbitrage, particularly mergers and acquisitions, and he has contributed to the field through his PhD thesis supervision.

He teaches modules in International Corporate Finance, Corporate Financial Management, Investment Management, and Corporate Finance, drawing on his professional experience in financial markets.
