Sorabh Tomar is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business. He holds a PhD in Accounting from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and dual bachelor's degrees in Commerce and Science from the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on the real effects of disclosure regulation in corporate and non-corporate contexts, particularly examining ESG disclosures, human capital transparency, and cost disaggregation in financial reporting.

Tomar's work explores how mandatory and voluntary disclosures impact organizational behavior, environmental outcomes, and labor market dynamics. Notably, his 2023 Journal of Accounting Research study on greenhouse gas disclosures was featured in the SEC's climate risk rulemaking discussions and NBER conferences. Another 2023 Management Science paper investigated grade disclosure policies' effects on student behavior and employment outcomes.
