Sophie Thomas is an honorary Lecturer at University College London with a unique interdisciplinary background combining design, waste management, and sustainability advocacy. As co-founder of design agency Thomas.Matthews (1997-present), she develops sustainable communication design solutions. Her work focuses on circular economy implementation, resource efficiency, and waste stream innovation.
She previously served as Director of Circular Economy at the RSA, advising the UK government's Circular Economy Task Force and Resources Council. Thomas contributed to the 'Industry Evolution' report shaping UK Industrial Strategy. Her research examines circular business models, closed-loop systems, and sustainable material flows.
