Ana Teresa Lima is a Senior Researcher at the Department of Environmental and Resource Engineering, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), specializing in sustainable engineering solutions with strong alignment to UN Sustainable Development Goals. Her work bridges academic research and industrial applications in circular economy systems.
Her research focuses on circular economy strategies for construction materials, particularly wind turbine blade recycling and mineral-based waste valorization. Key methodologies include material flow analysis, life cycle assessment, and electrodialytic recovery techniques for rare earth elements. She actively develops sustainability frameworks for blue infrastructure and closed-loop supply chains in the construction sector.
Recent publications demonstrate consistent innovation in repurposing industrial waste streams, with significant emphasis on wind turbine blade composites and brick supply chains. Her work shows strong interdisciplinary integration across environmental engineering, materials science, and sustainable logistics.
Lima supervises two PhD candidates (Dias, M. and Elsgaard, N.) working on circularity assessment frameworks and timber construction systems. She leads major EU-funded projects including CIRCULess (2024-2027) and Blades2Build (2023-2025), coordinating multi-institutional teams across Europe to develop eco-design solutions and advanced recycling methodologies for construction waste.
