Sophie Tessier is a Professor in the Department of Accounting at HEC Montréal. Her expertise spans management accounting, management control systems, energy efficiency, and sustainable development. She holds a B.A.A. and Ph.D. from HEC Montréal and Lancaster University, respectively.
Her research focuses on organizational control mechanisms, sustainability practices, and CSR in cooperatives. Recent work explores paradoxes in management control systems and carbon accounting frameworks.
Since 2019, she has published extensively on management control systems, sustainability, and post-acquisition integration. Her teaching includes courses on performance control and management research.
She has co-supervised 2 PhD dissertations and 6 MSc projects, mentoring students on topics like healthcare performance measurement and cooperative governance.
