Sophie Nadot is a Professor at Université Paris-Saclay, affiliated with the Graduate School Biosphera and the Laboratoire Écologie, Société et Évolution (IDEEV). She leads the Plant Diversity and Evolution team and has held administrative roles including Deputy Director for Teaching in the Graduate School Biosphera and Deputy Director of the doctoral school Sciences du Végétal.
- Research Focus: Evolutionary developmental biology of flowers, pollen aperture patterns, plant phylogenetics, and urban biodiversity
- Teaching: Systematic botany, field botany, landscaping
- Responsibilities: Coordination of Master's programs, editorial leadership as co-editor-in-chief of Botany Letters, and scientific mediation with Tela Botanica
Her research explores how floral morphology evolves through phylogenetic and developmental approaches, with a particular interest in symmetry transitions, pollen development, and urban plant interactions. She has contributed to understanding the genetic mechanisms behind floral symmetry in Proteaceae and Ranunculaceae families.
Her publications span topics like floral symmetry evolution, pollen aperture ontogeny, community gardens, and molecular systematics. Collaborations include institutions in France, Brazil, and the UK, with a focus on monocot and eudicot evolutionary biology.
