Professor Sophie Harman is Professor of International Politics at Queen Mary University of London with expertise in global health, African agency, visual methods, and gender politics. She holds a PhD from University of Manchester.
Her recent book 'Sick of It: The Global Fight for Women's Health' was The Observer's Book of the Week. She received Joni Lovenduski Prize for mid-career achievement and Philip Leverhulme Prize.
Her COVID-19 work includes founding Gender and COVID-19 working group with UN Women, advising CIHR Gender and COVID-19 project, and briefing UK government. Her film 'Pili' received BAFTA nomination.
She conducts fieldwork across Africa and global health hubs including Geneva and Washington DC.
