Sophie Gee is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Princeton University. She is currently on leave as the inaugural Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Sydney, working on a public humanities book titled Undisciplined. Her research focuses on British and global Anglophone literature from the seventeenth to eighteenth centuries, exploring themes like literary history, colonialism, and interdisciplinary connections between eating, writing, and spirituality. She also advocates for mindfulness in academia through initiatives like the Mindful Faculty group and collaborates on projects like the Contemplative Leadership initiative at Sydney University.

Research Interests: Her work spans early modern to eighteenth-century literature, creative writing, and the intersection of humanities with contemporary issues. She examines how literature reflects cultural, religious, and colonial exchanges, particularly through themes of consumption (food, waste) and identity formation. Her recent projects include reimagining Daniel Defoe’s London and the impact of uncertainty in scholarly practices.
