Sophie Fletcher is a Clinical Professor at the University of Southampton, affiliated with University Hospital Southampton (UHS). She has served as the clinical lead for the Respiratory Department (2018-2020) and played a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading clinical teams and co-chairing the RECOVERY trial, which validated dexamethasone's efficacy. She is the final year module lead for medicine in Wessex and received the Brian Latherdale Teaching Award (2021). Dr. Fletcher led the NHS-recognized ILD service (2013–2018), established the WILD patient support group, and chairs Southampton's ILD Multidisciplinary Team meetings. Her research focuses on interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary fibrosis, and clinical trial innovation. She has participated in multinational trials and published in high-impact journals.
