Sophie Fäs is a Researcher at the Department of History, University of Basel. Her work focuses on the history of midwifery and healthcare practices, particularly in the Fricktal Valley during the early modern period and in Basel City, Baselland, and Uri from 1870 to 1960. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in history and German studies at the University of Basel.

Her research examines the transition of midwifery from home-based practices to institutional settings, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). She investigates how regulatory frameworks and societal perceptions of healthcare evolved during this period.
