Sophie Crooks is a PhD Researcher and Lecturer at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Queen's University Belfast. She teaches Year One pre-registration adult nursing, covering Communication, Professionalism, Public Health, and Clinical Skills. As a Registered Adult Nurse with expertise in Perioperative and Critical Care, she integrates clinical experience into academia. She is a Fellow of Advance HE, reflecting excellence in higher education pedagogy.
Her research centers on Parkinson's Disease, Dementia, and geriatric care, employing methodologies like Mixed-Methods Research, Scoping Reviews, and Systematic Reviews. Recent work explores public perceptions of Parkinson's in Ireland and educational interventions for care home staff.
Sophie's publications (2025) predominantly investigate Parkinson's Disease through scoping reviews, public surveys, and training protocols. Key themes include healthcare education, disease stigma, and quality-of-life interventions in geriatric settings.
