Sophie Cottet is a Research Fellow at the Department of Economics and Finance, UiS Business School, University of Stavanger. She is also a CESifo Affiliate and Research Affiliate at the Institut des politiques publiques (France). Her research focuses on applied microeconomics at the intersection of labor and public economics, examining labor demand, firm behavior, and policy impacts. Cottet holds a PhD in Economics from the Paris School of Economics (2023), supervised by Antoine Bozio, with a thesis titled Labor Demand, Labor Costs and the Firm: Evidence from Payroll Taxation Reforms in France.
Her work explores how payroll tax policies affect firm performance and labor markets, with policy-relevant findings published in reports like the IPP’s evaluation of France’s payroll tax reforms. She has presented research at leading conferences, including the CESifo Area Conference on Public Economics (2024) and the European Association for Labour Economics (EALE). Teaching includes courses on public economics, causal designs, and policy evaluation at UiS Business School and the Ecole nationale d’administration (ENA).
