Sophie Cole is an Assistant Professor in Education at Northumbria University, where she leads the development and quality assurance of apprenticeship programmes within the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing. With over two decades of experience in teacher education, she has led Ofsted-rated Outstanding PGCE Art, Craft, and Design programmes and pioneered academic development initiatives for early career academics.

Her research focuses on Higher Education Pedagogies, particularly teacher education, professional capital, creativity in pedagogy, and impostorism mitigation strategies. She has explored these themes through funded projects and publications addressing accountability frameworks in education.
Recent publications highlight her expertise in professional capital development for trainee teachers, simulation-based pedagogies to address impostor syndrome, and cross-curricular approaches in teacher education. These works span empirical studies, theoretical frameworks, and practice-based innovations.
