Sophie Bennett-Gillison is a Lecturer in Management and Business at Aberystwyth University, affiliated with the Aberystwyth Business School and the Department of Management and Business. She holds a PhD in Management and Business, MSc Econ, and BA Hons, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She serves as Director of the Centre for Local and Rural/Regional Enterprise (CLaRE) and Programme Co-Ordinator for the Doctor of Professional Studies (DProf).
Research Interests:
- Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management
- Creative Industries and Regional Economic Development
- Employee Wellbeing, Motivation, and Emotional Intelligence
- Impact of Artificial Intelligence on HR and Decision-Making
- Rural Community Regeneration and Place-Based Marketing
Her recent research explores how creative industries inform organizational policy, the role of AI in public sector HR (particularly in the UAE), and leadership in care homes. She has led projects funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and Creative Exchange Wales Network.
Recent Publications Trends: Her most recent publications focus on fair pay for writers, ceramics-inspired therapy, community regeneration post-COVID, social media use in organizations, and rural artistic entrepreneurship. These works reflect interdisciplinary engagement with policy, wellbeing, and regional development.
Supervision and Leadership:
- Supervises 10 DProf and 2 PhD students
- Principal and Co-Investigator on multiple research projects
- Co-ordinates the DProf program and leads the CLaRE Research Centre
