معرفی
Sophie Benjamin is a Senior Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry at the School of Science & Technology, Nottingham Trent University. She teaches across undergraduate (BSc, MChem) and postgraduate (MRes, MSc) chemistry programs and serves as the Radiation Protection Officer for the university. Her research focuses on main group and transition metal chemistry, particularly coordination complexes of antimony and bismuth.
- Education: PhD in Inorganic Chemistry (University of Southampton), Natural Sciences (University of Cambridge)
Research Interests: Sophie’s work spans molecular bonding, organometallic catalyst design, and bismuth-based antimicrobial agents. Her group explores unconventional p-block element applications, leveraging the unique properties of heavy main group metals for catalysis and materials science. Projects include developing cost-effective catalysts and investigating bismuth’s role in combating antibiotic resistance.
Publications & Trends: Her recent work (2016–2023) emphasizes coordination chemistry, Lewis acids, and chemical vapor deposition techniques. Notable studies include palladium-antimony clusters and organoantimony catalysts for organic synthesis.
- Scientific Awards: EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowship
External Activity: Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, serving on the Coordination and Organometallic Discussion Group and Main Group Discussion Group committees.
