Prof. Dr. Sjoerd Harder is a distinguished academic affiliated with the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, where he holds the Chair of Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry within the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy under the Faculty of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on the synthesis and reactivity of organometallic and inorganic complexes of alkaline-earth metals, particularly in catalytic applications and bonding studies.
Research Interests: Prof. Harder's work spans Inorganic Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, and Catalysis, with a strong emphasis on hydrogenation processes, dinitrogen complexation, and the unique properties of low-valent main group metals like magnesium and calcium.
Selected Publications (2018–2024): His recent studies highlight groundbreaking advancements in heterobimetallic bonding, magnesium(0) complexes for reduction reactions, calcium-mediated dinitrogen reduction, and synergistic main group/transition metal catalysts for hydrogenation. These works have been published in high-impact journals such as Nature Synthesis, Nature, Science, and Nature Communications.
