Sophia Walther

Prof. Sophia Walther is a Project Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena, Germany, since 2024. She co-leads the FLUXCOM initiative and previously worked as a PostDoc (2018–2023) in the same institute. Her research focuses on terrestrial carbon cycle dynamics, remote sensing of vegetation, and data-driven modeling of land-atmosphere fluxes using machine learning.
