Sophia Hsu is a Professor in the Department of English at Lehman College, CUNY. She holds a B.A. from UCLA and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Rice University. Her research focuses on 19th-century British literature, medical humanities, and Victorian小说理论, exploring intersections between literature and population studies. Her current book project examines Victorian novels through histories and theories of population, supported by an AAUW American Fellowship. She co-founded the digital humanities initiative Undisciplining the Victorian Classroom, which reimagines Victorian studies pedagogy through race-conscious frameworks.
Publications appear in SEL Studies in English Literature, Dickens Studies Annual, Victorian Review, and English Language Notes. Teaching interests include the novel genre and medical humanities. She actively contributes to academic communities through digital humanities projects and scholarly writing.
