Sophia Dimelis is a Professor in the Department of Economics at the Bratislava University of Economics and Business, within the Faculty of Economics and Finance. Her research focuses on time-series analysis, applied econometrics, growth and productivity dynamics, and the impact of ICT and FDI. She has held significant fellowships, including the Erasmus Lifelong Learning Program scholarship (2013-2017) and early-career fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh and Athens University of Economics and Business.
Her research interests span microeconomics, macroeconomic policy, and industry-level analyses. Notable projects include studies on the Greek economy's crisis mechanisms, banking concentration effects on firm growth, and the role of upstream regulation in productivity. She has contributed to over 15 peer-reviewed articles and authored books on econometric methods and Greek economic growth.
Awards and recognitions include her Erasmus scholarship and her role as an evaluator for EU-funded programs (Horizon 2020, FP7). She supervises numerous Master’s and Ph.D. students and participates in international conferences, such as the Vienna University of Economics seminar (2014) and workshops at Monash University (2010). She is affiliated with labs like the Bratislava Behavioral and Economic Experiences for Research (bee4R LAB) and SecureDataLab.
