Soo Yeon Kim

Dr. Soo Yeon Kim is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia's School of Public Policy and Global Affairs (SPPGA), serving as Editor of Pacific Affairs and holding the Korea Foundation Chair. Previously, she was Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science at the National University of Singapore. She earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale University and a B.A. from Yonsei University.

Her research focuses on international political economy, particularly trade politics and Asian affairs. Current projects include studies on the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, regional integration in Asia, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

Dr. Kim has held fellowships at Princeton University, the Transatlantic Academy, and the East-West Center. As Editor of Pacific Affairs, she aims to align the journal with SPPGA's mission of bridging scholarly rigor and policy relevance.

Teaching areas include International Political Economy, research methods, and Asian political dynamics. She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to global challenges like climate change and great power rivalries.
