Sonmez Sahutoglu is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Toledo. He earned his PhD in Mathematics from Texas A&M University (2006) after completing BS and MS degrees at the Middle East Technical University (Turkey). Following a postdoctoral position at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), he joined Toledo in 2009 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, advancing to Associate Professor (2014) and Professor (2020). He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses ranging from Calculus to PhD-level topics.
His research lies in Several Complex Variables and Operator Theory, focusing on Toeplitz operators, Hankel operators, and the ∂̄-Neumann problem. Over 18 years, he has published 106 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals like Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. and Math. Ann., with recent work (2025) analyzing compactness of operator products and spectral properties of Hankel operators on polydiscs.
His scholarly output includes collaborations with Zeljko Cuckovic (12 papers), Akaki Tikaradze, and Trieu Le. He has presented at international conferences, organized events, and served as a referee for major mathematics journals. Research spans pseudoconvex domains, convex domains, worm domains, and Hartogs domains in C^n, with applications to Bergman spaces, Berezin transforms, and Stein neighborhood bases.
