Sonja Philipp

Sonja Philipp is Professor of Structural Geology and Geodynamics at the University of Göttingen, researching brittle deformation processes and geothermal reservoir characterization. Her work combines field studies with numerical modeling to analyze fracture propagation and fluid transport in sedimentary rocks.

Projects include AuGE (geothermal exploration analogues) and fracture analyses in limestone-marl alternations. Research highlights permeability structures in fault zones and mechanical heterogeneity effects on reservoir performance.

Philipp teaches Fractured Reservoirs and leads rock mechanics investigations for safe geothermal drilling.
