Sonja Hirschl-Neuhauser

Sonja Hirschl-Neuhauser is a Lecturer in the Bio- and Food Technology program at the Management Center Innsbruck (FH). She holds a Dr., Dipl. Ing. in Food and Biotechnology from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (Vienna) and an Ing. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and Genetic Engineering from the HBLVA Vienna.

Her research focuses on molecular biology, virology, and bioprocess engineering. She has contributed to studies on allergen expression in Chlamydomonas, melanoma-associated retroviruses, and antibody engineering using phage display. Her teaching spans laboratory exercises in biochemistry, microbiology, and bioprocess engineering.

She has supervised over 20 bachelor’s and master’s theses addressing topics like CRISPR/Cas systems, microbial degradation of plastics, and algal biotechnology. Her work also includes contributions to peer-reviewed journals and edited chapters on bioreactors and protein expression systems.
