Sonja Geier is a Visiting Professor at the University of Stuttgart (Institute of Building Construction) and a lecturer at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Engineering & Architecture School). She leads the Visiting Professorship for "Innovations in Timber Construction" and serves as Deputy Head of the Competence Center for Typology & Planning in Architecture (CCTP).
Her research focuses on industrialized timber construction, circular economy in building materials, sustainable design, and digital construction workflows. She has contributed to over 20 projects including BAUHALPS, Green Health Care Buildings, and leanWOOD, emphasizing wood as a renewable resource for carbon-neutral construction.
Recent publications like "circularWOOD" explore paradigm shifts toward circular timber construction, analyzing material flow, stakeholder engagement, and policy frameworks. Her work bridges academia and industry through BIM implementation, lean construction models, and cross-border sustainability initiatives.
